Mixing it up

After the Bupa London 10,000 at the end of May, which despite being a fantastic race I found much more difficult than I should have done (note to self: lack of training = bad), I’ve decided to get back into exercise in a big way. Which is easier said than done, seeing that my next race isn’t booked in my diary until September (the adidas Women’s 5K Challenge) and I’ve always been one to need a deadline to help me stay on course with my running. However, I’ve decided that for the time being, variety is key to keep my enthusiasm high and help develop my overall strength and stamina. Hence last week saw me cycling and rowing in the gym, doing a yoga class, running twice, and hiking, horse riding and mountain biking at the weekend. Do I ache? Hell yes! But I feel brilliant, and the variety has made me feel muscles in my legs, stomach and arms I didn’t even know I had. Here’s to another week of activity!
