Post marathon recovery (ahem) Friday, 11 May, 2012 It’s been nearly two weeks since the marathon now but I have not had much time to put my feet up. Last weekend I was invited to take part in the 3 Peaks Challenge, which is organised a number of times a year by my local gym. The challenge is to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon within 24 hours... Read more >Amazing Tuesday, 8 May, 2012 And so it’s done! The big day has come and gone, 26.2 miles were completed by in me and in under 4 hours (3.57.22 to be precise!) There were times when I really didn’t think I was going to make it under 4 and I spent most of the last 5 miles consoling myself that I would get a PB regardless as long as I finished, seeing as this was my first ever marathon. An inspring weekend! Monday, 23 April, 2012 One week to go until the Milton Keynes Marathon! Marathon hype has been widespread these past few days as yesterday was The Virgin London marathon. It was the marathon I wanted to run but I failed to get a place in the ballot. One week to go until the Milton Keynes Marathon! Recharging the batteries Thursday, 12 April, 2012 Everything since I last updated by blog has been jogging along quite nicely (excuse the pun). I was due to do my longest run yesterday which I have actually re jigged until tomorrow as the boyfriend and I decided to make the most of the long weekend and disappear for a bit... Read more >
Water of Life Half Marathon Wednesday, 28 March, 2012 This week I took part in The Water of Life Half Marathon in Marlow as part of my marathon training. I was a bit daunted to find when I got the confirmation email that much of it was off road with a number of bridges, steps and kissing gates! Read more >
Dog days Wednesday, 21 March, 2012 It’s been a week of two halves. During the end of last week and over the weekend I have been a bit of a grouch. Normally going for a run straightens me out and helps me get a bit of perspective but it hasn’t really been working lately... Read more >
I'm waterproof! Monday, 12 March, 2012 Hey guess what? I’m waterproof! And thank goodness because some of the weather I have been out in this week has been horrendous. Well I guess not really any different than you would expect from winter/spring but still I have never had to run in it before! Read more >
Fear Monday, 5 March, 2012 Feel the fear and do it anyway. It’s a phrase that is most definitely easier said than done. Fear has been a bit of a theme this week. Most notably because I had agreed last year to give a speech at a ball in front of 265 people organised to help raise money for cancer charities. Read more >
Don't stop me now... Wednesday, 29 February, 2012 The last week has been a busy one. After the Brighton Half I had a day of yoga and then it was back to threshold running on Tuesday, a recovery run on Wednesday, hills on Thursday a steady run on Friday and then a long run on Sunday. Phew... Read more >
Brighton Half and then some! Wednesday, 22 February, 2012 The last week has seen me gearing up for the Brighton Half Marathon. As the Milton Keynes Marathon is still two and a half months away will also be doing another half mid way through March... Read more >
Less than perfect conditions Wednesday, 14 February, 2012 Man, what a cold week! I had hoped that escaping to Australia in January would mean I would miss the worst of the winter weather in England but it was not to be! It’s frustrating when you are committed to a plan, you are ready and willing but then you are foiled by circumstances beyond your control... Read more >
A bit of perspective please... Thursday, 2 February, 2012 This week things are getting to me. The novelty of being back in England and back at work has worn off and quickly too I might add. Over the past year and a half I have been studying for a Masters degree on a part time basis. I am in the process of wrapping up the final two modules with assignments before I go on to start my thesis... Read more >
I found 10 pounds! Tuesday, 10 January, 2012 Yep you heard right, I have just discovered ten pounds I didn’t know I possessed. “Horray” I hear you cheer, “good for you!” But wait, this is not THAT sort of ten pounds. Oh no, this is the ‘what happens when you go on holiday for three weeks straight after Christmas’ sort of ten pounds... Read more >
Warm weather training Tuesday, 10 January, 2012 As much as I would like to pretend that I have travelled to Australia for some dedicated Project 26.2 warm weather training, that would be somewhat over exaggerating!Read more >
Back to the gym Wednesday, 28 December, 2011 Early last week I received my training plan from Phoebe Thomas at Running With Us and as I had been warned it included a variety of sessions other than my usual 'just leave the house and run for ages' self designed plan... Read more >
Let the blogging begin! Monday, 19 December, 2011 Let the blogging begin! After being selected for Women’s Running Magazine's Project 26.2 I have agreed to help keep readers updated by creating a blog to record my progress. How could I refuse?
