First Time Users

Finding your way around the Women’s Running website is easy!

First time users
Thanks to our members' functionality, you can connect with friends and family, meet new people, or find other women who run in your area. Then together you can share information, chart your successes, locate running clubs, or create a unique running group for you and your buddies.You are welcome to browse most of the site without restriction, but if you wish to make your own posts or comment on anything you see, you will need to sign up. If you're new to social networking, don't forget to read our Safety Section.

How to use the site

Once you’ve logged on to

www.womensrunninguk.co.uk

, go to My Profile, where you can update your personal details. Simply hover over the questions and press edit to input your details.You can also add a picture of yourself by hovering over the image section, and you can change your status update as regularly as you like!

Running Diary

Once you’ve updated your profile, you can then start updating your Running Diary! Simply go to the My Running tab at the top of your profile page, click on Create New Entry and then input your latest run.

Mapping

You can even accurately record your route using our interactive map! Go to 'My Profile' and then click on 'My Running' and then 'Create New Entry' to start. Then Simply type in the town or postcode of your run location, and then click on the map to start marking your waypoints. Once you’ve mapped your route, press save and your route will automatically be saved into your running diary. If your run was in a straight line, simply press Plot Return Route and it will automatically go back the way you came.

Security

To change your security settings and control how much or little of your profile can be viewed by other users, go to the Settings tab and simply tick or un-tick the boxes you want to remain visible.

Social networking!

You can also use our interactive map to find your friends or other women runners in your area. Simply click on the Find Member tab at the top of the Community section. You can either search for other users by name or location, or you can key in running stats in the Optional Filter section to find running buddies with the same running level of ability as you in your area!

To search for other runners in your area by location, click on Show Map, and then use the Run Within drop down menu to choose your desired search radius. Then key in either your postcode or the location of your favourite running route and click on the pink Find button. Once you've located your address or running route, then click on the blue Search button to the bottom right of the map, and it will automatically generate a list of all the other women runners within the selected radius.Once you’ve found your friends or other women runners in your area, click on the pink arrow beneath their name. You can then either invite them to be your friend, mark them as a contact, or send them a message.

Forum

Another great way to make friends with other women runners is via our community forums. Simply go to the Forum, click on the topic that interests you, and either click on Add a Reply to join in a conversation, or Add a Topic to start your own!

Groups

You can also join a Group, or set up your own! Simply go to the Find Group tab in the Community section and search for a Group using a keyword (for example West London Runners). To set up your own group go to My Groups and click on Create New Group. Input the name and description of your group, add a picture that best represents it, and then press save. Once you’ve created your group you can then go to your friends' profiles and invite them to join your group. You can also use your group as your own mini forum! You can also make the group private, so no one but you and the other members can view your forum chat.

Messaging

Stay in touch with friends and family using our built in members' messaging service. You can send private messages, and with full access to all of your sent and draft messages, you can manage your contacts.
