Freya's story:

Animal lover Freya from Suffolk recovered from an eating disorder three years ago. This will be her second marathon. Running has helped her rebuild her self-esteem and prove to herself that she can achieve her goals. She ran the Washington Marathon last year for the Marine Corps. She struggled with stomach pains last year – this time, she wants to be 30 minutes faster and get her nutrition just right.

I'm back! Monday, 14 May, 2012 Hello there! I didn’t think I’d be blogging any more after Project 26.2 was over, but as it turns out, I can! Which is exciting, because I love talking and writing about running - I could ramble on forever. Read more >
Brighton Marathon and a silver medal Monday, 16 April, 2012 I’ve done it! Yesterday, I completed the Brighton Marathon - and I am absolutely over the moon! Read more >
One week away Tuesday, 10 April, 2012 As I type this, The Brighton Marathon is officially one week away. Seven days. 168 hours. 10,080 minutes. Over the next 604,800 seconds, I need to prioritise certain things... Read more >
The ups and downs of marathon training Tuesday, 3 April, 2012 Two weeks to go! Two! How is that possible!? My time taking part in this project has simply flown by, far too quickly. There have been a lot of ups and downs over the past four months or so though. My blog posts alone seem to be positive one week, negative the next! Last week was a major positive, but this week is a bit of a negative... Read more >
And so it begins! Tuesday, 27 March, 2012
Well... I’ve survived! This past week has been my ‘peak week’ in terms of mileage, culminating in a 3-hour run today. It’s hardly been a restful, easy week though! Read more >
 I'm back! Monday, 19 March, 2012
Guess what? I’m back! I followed the advice from my last blog, did a bit of positive thinking (and a lot of icing and stretching), and I kicked some shin pain butt! And now, I am feeling on top of the world - this week has been totally life changing, and I’m feeling amazing...

A pain in the shin Monday, 12 March, 2012
This has not been the best week of training, not by a long shot. I’ve been having mild shin pain on and off for a few weeks, but last week, my shins felt sorer than they had been. I did a recovery run and a progression run during the week, and they were bugging me on both. I emailed coach Phoebe and physio Paul for some advice, and it was not good...

Wet wet wet Tuesday, 6 March, 2012
My long run the weekend before last was beautiful, with blue skies and warm weather - picture perfect. So how come, the ONE week when there’s going to be a camera taking my picture after my long run for the world and its mother to see, the floodgates open and I’m absolutely drenched!? The wet-rat look really isn’t the style I normally go for, but what can you do...

What I think about when I'm running Monday, 27 February, 2012
I don’t think it’s much of a secret that I’m not the most confident runner (mini panic attack at mile 11 of a half marathon? Yeah.) I worry, about myself and what others are doing, and I doubt if I’m going to manage to keep my pace or run the distance...

Brighton Half Marathon Monday, 20 February, 2012
Oh my goodness. Where do I begin?! This past week has been both the best and the worst week of training during the whole of the project, culminating in the Brighton Half Marathon...

Love is in the air
Monday, 13 February, 2012
I’m in love. Crazy mad love. The recipient in question is simply wonderful - always there when I want them, spends as much or as little time with me as I want, makes me feel fabulous and strong, gets along well with the family, and never argues back...

Snow days Monday, 6 February, 2012
Phew, what a week! It was meant to be an easy week running-wise, so at first I thought I’d have nothing wicked and wild to say, but it’s actually been an awesome - albeit busy - seven days.

The ice factor
Tuesday, 31 January, 2012
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past six months, I’m guessing you have cottoned on to the fact that we are in the depths of winter!

The Hunger
Monday, 23 January, 2012
So, week five of marathon training is done and dusted. Week FIVE? My, how time flies when you’re having fun! And fun it has been - I am so hungry to run Brighton and just do it, because I really do believe in myself...

Does that make me a masochist?
Thursday, 12 January, 2012
I have a problem; I think I enjoy pain. Well, to be more specific - I enjoy the pain from a sports massage given by a well qualified Physio & Therapy physio. Does that make me a masochist!? Let me backtrack...

Tis The Season...
Thursday, 29 December, 2011
...for getting horrendously out of breath, reaching dizzying speeds you haven’t hit in months and months, and being the only soul pounding the roads at 7am on December 25th!

Hello Women’s Running readers!
Monday, 19 December, 2011
Hello, Women’s Running readers! My name is Freya, and I’m a 21 year old trainee teacher from Suffolk. I am completely shocked and so honoured to have been picked for Project 26.2. After a less-than-perfect first marathon experience - which involved major ‘stomach issues’! - I am very relieved to be getting some expert tips and advice...
