Laraine's story:

Her first marathon, Laraine's running for Stroke 29-year-old Laraine from Shropshire is running the Virgin London Marathon to raise money for the Stroke Association after her husband had a stroke at the age of 30. Her aim is to raise awareness that strokes in younger people are more common than most of us realise. She was recently made redundant and was delighted to hear some good news when we contacted her to tell her she’d been chosen to take part in Project 26.2.

A new PB - yeah baby! Monday, 14 May, 2012 It’s been three weeks since the London Marathon debacle, and I’ve decided my goals for the summer are to run a sub 1-hour 10K and a sub 2 hour 15 half marathon... Read more >

Super rainy runner extraordinaire Monday, 19 March, 2012
Today was a big day in terms of training. My long run was scheduled for three hours. Well, actually it was scheduled for tomorrow but I decided I knew better and thought if I got my long run out of the way on Saturday I could spend Sunday relaxing. Hmm…

Today was a big day in my training towards the London Marathon. It was the Silverstone Half Marathon. For those who have followed my blog and tweets, you’ll know I’m not much of a racer! Read more >
Chicken satay intervals and an OMG moment Monday, 5 March, 2012
What a week! It’s been a busy one, as I knew it would be because when I got my training plans off running coach Phoebe last week, it looked like it was going to be tough!

Inspiring? Me? Are you sure? Tuesday, 28 February, 2012
An odd thing has been happening recently. As you’ll probably know by now, I’m a pretty slow plodder aiming to complete the London Marathon on 22 April. I’m receiving fantastic support and advice from an amazing team of people and as a result my running has improved dramatically. That’s not the odd thing. It’s incredible and makes me feel very lucky, but it’s not odd...

Bog running Monday, 13 February, 2012
I am absolutely buzzing at the moment! I’m not sure if it’s sheer joy because I’ve just had the best run of my life, or whether I overdosed on the High 5 energy gels but either way, I feel unbelievably amazing!

The dreadmill of boredom Monday, 6 February, 2012
I finally feel like a grown up. Not because of my recent 30th birthday, but because for literally the first time ever, instead of looking out the window and thinking ‘yay, snow!’ I thought ‘that looks dangerous, I’d like it to go away’.

I wasn't last!
Tuesday, 31 January, 2012
In my last blog I was debating whether to take part in the local 10K race that took place today. Well, I did and guess what? I didn’t come last! I can’t tell you how happy that makes me. Okay, so I was only fourth from last but that’s still not last! Go me!

It has been a fantastic week! My orthotics arrived, courtesy of the genius that is Paul Hobrough of Physio & Therapy. They come with a very snazzy pattern in a multitude of colours. I decided if I couldn’t have pink ones to match my trainers, I’d go for the migraine inducing ones instead...

What? When??
Thursday, 19 January, 2012
I was feeling a little traumatised earlier this week. No, not because of the combined effort of an hour of intervals on the cross trainer immediately followed by an hour of body balance but because in just a few short days, on Saturday 21st January I’m going to be 30. *shudders*
