Safety
It's important to remain mindful that not everyone is what they seem online, and making friends on the Internet can come with safety concerns. Although we're aimed exclusively at women, legally we can't prevent men, aliens or axe-murderers from joining the site, so below we’ve compiled a list of security tips for you. If you do ever have cause for concern about another members' behaviour, rest assured then you can report them to our web administer in confidence here Website Support. In the unlikely event that you feel your personal safety has been compromised, or if you or other members are at risk, then we urge you to report it to the police immediately.

Be in control

You can talk to other members online anonymously, but if you make friends with someone in your area, you may decide to meet in the real world and run together. Before you do, make sure you're totally comfortable and trust your instincts. If you are unsure about running with a stranger, just tell them - you're all in the same boat and they'll understand.

Be honest

It could be embarrassing, not to mention painful, if you pretend you’re an experienced runner and push yourself beyond your normal capabilities. Be honest about your aptitude, and make sure your new running buddies are of a similar level to you.

Be aware

If you feel that another member is using the site inappropriately or has made you feel uncomfortable, then tell us. You can block any member from contacting you; it’s your site so we want you to feel comfortable.

Use common sense

Making friends online isn't that different from meeting people in the real world. You might prefer to chat to people online, or you might find a running buddy who lives in the next street! The key thing to remember is that your personal safety is paramount, so trust your instincts. The vast majority of people are here for the same reasons you are, and either want to make friends online, get running advice, or find a running buddy. If you're at all unsure about a person however, then don't take a risk.

Meet in public

If you decide to meet up and run together, make sure your first meeting is in a place where there are other people around.

Tell a friend

Ensure that someone knows exactly where you are going and when you intend to return home. Also take a mobile phone with you and next of kin contact details in case of an emergency.

Be cautious

Keep details of where you live and work to yourself until you're totally sure of the person.Use your common sense, stay safe and have a great time. If you ever have any concerns, our web administrator will be happy to hear from you.
